Given that this year is one of participating actively in life, I've got a plethora of ideas I want to sample and hopefully become an expert at. One thing on the list - 'Steelwool Photography'.
Yes, I hear my mothers voice - 'Play with fire and you'll get burnt!'. But, it's a fairly simple technique of burning steelwool and using long exposure whilst being mindful of your surroundings...and self protection of course. With the assistance of my daughter Emily, we ventured down the south coast and did just that. She got two small burns from stray steelwool but soldiered on like the trooper she is. Seeing it in action with the naked eye and then the photographic results was pretty cool indeed. No wonder there are many photographers who specialise in this technique. Some of the work I've seen is mind blowingly inspirational. Makes my imagination giddy with where and how I'll try this next! Nic
