This pic has some funny memories attached. On our recent trip around Victoria we spent a night at Port Fairy and on the list of things to do was to head out to the Griffiths Island Lighthouse. 'My' plan was to be there at sunset to get nice photos of the lighthouse. 'My kids' on the other hand saw sand and just wanted to play.
When you get to the carpark, there is no real clear signage as to the fastest way to the lighthouse. Sunset was approaching and we ended up taking the looooooooong way. Felt like the never ending adventure. I found myself walking fast paced (slightly running)...calves burning...looking frontwards and backwards...taking in as much scenery as possible whilst being mindful that I wanted to get to the lighthouse at sunset. My poor kids just wanted to play in the pristine sand and paddle in the water, yet here I was dragging them around an island. We made it 'the great Griffiths Island race'...that I ended up winning because my husband and kids gave up and played in a cute little beach. I made it there by sunset...and what a sunset it was! It was great that the rest of the family eventually caught up and we took some time savouring the moment.
